Chocolate Bananas and Custard

My dad loves custard, therefore it was a regular dessert in our house. He'd love this recipe, although I've never cooked it for him. This recipe is for home made custard, but there is a large range of ready prepared ones now available in supermarkets.

You need - for 2 people (1 if you're like my dad!):
3 egg yolks
75g sugar (and 1 tbsp)
220ml milk
1 tbsp flour
1 fresh vanilla pod
1 tsp cocoa powder
2 bananas
25g butter
pinch o' ginger
pinch o' salt

Fill a saucepan 1/2 full with water and put on to boil. Once boiled turn down to a slow simmer, put a bowl over the top ensuring the bottom isn't in the water, if it is, remove some water.
Mix the yolks, 75g sugar, flour and salt in the bowl. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly. Cook until thickened, still stirring. Turn off the heat. Split the vanilla pod down the centre, scrape out the seeds, and stir in, along with the cocoa powder. Sit aside. (Instead of the cocoa you can put in chunks of actuall chocolate and just let them melt in, its nicer, but cocoa is easier)
Gently heat the butter, ginger and tbsp sugar in a frying pan, cook the bananas in the pan until coloured. Place in a bowl or deep plate and pour over the custard. Top with gated chocolate.
